Overview

 

Matt will guide you to think critically about your work and consider and its role in the world.  Through individual reviews and group discussions, we will work towards sharpening the language of your photography so that it more closely aligns with your ideas and goals, highlighting your ability to interpret and visualize the world in a personal way. Participants will leave the class with a more focused and fully formed approach to their photography.

About Matt Black

Matt Black is a member of Magnum Photos. He has received numerous honors, including the W. Eugene Smith Grant, three Robert F. Kennedy Journalism awards, and grants from the National Geographic Society and the Emerson Collective. His book American Geography, published by Thames and Hudson, was named one of the top photo books of 2021 by Time Magazine.  His new book, American Artifacts, will be published later this year.

Cost
This is a tuition-fee free workshop and participants are selected on the merit of their work

Applications

Interested participants should apply with a portfolio of 15 images on a single theme. The deadline for acceptance is October 31st , and qualified applicants will be selected through a combination of the merit of their work and their personal statement, and the order of their application’s receipt. Successful applicants will be informed via email on or before November 5th.
