Overview
This one-day workshop by Podd Labs introduces participants to the Gum Bichromate printing process, a 19th-century photographic technique that merges photography with painting. Using watercolor pigments, gum arabic, and dichromate salts, participants will create richly textured, hand-crafted photographic prints.

The workshop provides a hands-on experience that connects contemporary digital photography with traditional printmaking practices, offering participants a slower, more tactile way of making photographic images.

Participants will gain practical experience in:
-
Preparing digital negatives for contact printing
-
Mixing and coating paper with gum solution
-
Exposing coated paper under UV light
-
Developing, washing, and drying prints
-
Layering for tonal depth and artistic variations

By the end of the session, participants will understand the complete Gum Bichromate workflow and take home their own handmade prints.
